we can imagine we know a psychopath that runs a business. he murders people and steals their cars, then sells them. that's where all his cars come from. we go to the psychopath to buy a car. we buy a car that was already stolen, and whose owner is already dead

this is pretty analogous to the situation we find ourselves as consumers with faced from buying from things like the meat industry, but on a smaller level we could apply it to computer parts and sweatshops too
