what is the use of science fiction writers who 1) didn't see this coming 2) don't understand the dynamic when it arrives in so far as science fiction is supposed to be a platform for looking forwards and discussing wild new ideas, they've failed haven't they?

probably their use is, at best, in telling a fun story the idea that science fiction is supposed to be the other thing was probably always self-congratulatory propaganda
