I burnt out so hard I went from biggest scholarship the university gives out to not even bothering to check what my grades were for the semester before I dropped out... ...and it took a decade after that for anyone to consider I might have been depressed.

Seriously. The moment when they're both holding special dinners in honor of the highest-performing students, and one of those students is on the verge of failing out anyway, should have been a warning sign to all involved, myself included.
