if you need something more standalone you should probably read We3, Seaguy, Marvel Boy, and All-Star Superman which i am entirely serious in calling the greatest Superman story ever told

oh goodness no, Saga is great but it's space fantasy 100x harder than Star Wars is space fantasy

I didn't get on well with it. Something about the characters seemed totally false to me. I only read a few pages though.
