a major reason that software is always failing for ridiculous reasons is that learning to analyze complex systems for their failure modes is a skill you can't just turn off in real life and therefore is soul crushing

It can be pretty hard to go around constantly seeing why the systems people put into place are going to fail, but you can adapt to it.
