sex: there's male/female/intersex. gender: is a social construct. don't say gender when you mean personality.
-
-
but if you don't privilege the lens for a minute it's very quickly clear that "male" and "female" are statistical neighborhoods
-
and then you see how social construction isn't just descriptive, it's coercive, with millions of babies cut up or murdered to enforce it

i am not what you would call enchanted with this phenomenonhttps://twitter.com/chaosprime/status/410852214119231488 …

But what he means is that there's more basis in physical reality for sex than for gender, generally speaking.
-
IMHO there's a huge difference between adopting a system of classification - and being ready to admit when it's too restrictive and fails -
-
and assuming that system reflects some underlying moral reality, which is what most people do. Transphobia is a naturalistic fallacy.
-
I can think that most people categorise as either male or female, and accept that some don't, without freaking out, if I don't make the step
-
that what most people tend to be is also what is "natural" and therefore what is "right" (basically, as it's ordained by God/Nature).
-
Natural, or biologically determined, or whatever, has nothing to do with right, and we're ok with that when we fight "natural" illnesses.
