That would not be a basis, that would be a purpose. And by having to paint "them" as sinister in order to disagree, you prove their point.
"based on" is giving them too much credit. their basis is instrumentalization of humans. claims about reality are useful for that, is all.

no. they exist because humans can be instrumentalized and that has results. that's what makes it a basis. purpose is just storytelling.
