why does the popular transliteration have to be a comically bad one anyway
is it better to write ruach, chaya, & yechida and be googleable or write ruakh, khaya, & yekhida and mislead English speakers slightly less?

my general rule is that if I’m going to get pedantic about spelling I have to go. all. the. way. I.e., “coöperative” or 「カラオケ」.
-
so if you’re not going to write it in Hebrew then go with the recognizable spelling.
-
how is that all the way, that seems like specifically halfway
-
my preferred, unpopular transliteration of the guttural to kh is what seems like "going all the way" to the most correctness i can manage
-
that seems like a fair argument.
-
guess I had the wrong reference frame there. Yeah. If you’re gonna spell it “right” you might as well use Hebrew.
-
not like we’re talking personal names or something where there’s a “true” reference.
-
legit answer, spell it the way that makes phonetic sense and leave a note somewhere explaining that it’s a variant spelling.
