i vaguely suspect lack of targeting advertising capability is huge in this. like 'cares about comics' is considered such a niche already
i wonder if there's any way to get an API onto Comixology's pull list system besides offering to write the damn thing for free myself

who knows, everyone is terrified of digital, even though i can think of about a billion ways it could help publishers and retailers
-
the pricing is such a huge issue too - how you gonna sell 22 page 4 dollar comics to readers coming from manga and webcomics (you don't)
-
on a pure "my budget is tight" level, with no regards to taste or quality at all, every other medium comes out on top
-
and i don't know if marvel noticed, but our generation doesn't really have money to spend on 6 month super events with tie-ins
-
every adaptation to take a shrinking market and exploit it harder shrinks the market more
-
this has been a big one i've been compiling the evidence on - marvel's renumbering shit has been kicking their own ass
-
ms. marvel vol 2 no 9 (a CWII tie-in) sells worse than ms. marvel vol 1 no 9
-
and their Big Books like avengers keep cratering in sales faster and faster. they can't even push X-Men anymore, haven't for years
