The TNC Black Panther isn't any good: http://www.hoodedutilitarian.com/2016/04/marvel-vs-coates-marvel-wins/ …
@nberlat hunh, i actually liked it a lot. i cope with continuity i don't need to give a fuck about probably six-sigma well, though.

@chaosprime What did you like about it? -
@nberlat hm. a hell of a powerful emotional moment between well-intentioned people doing their best who're mortally opposed because of it -
@nberlat a lot of it i think is just things you hated that i didn't. :) like i don't read it as a disjointed story, i read it as a story... -
@nberlat of a disjointed, broken situation. i do think it's following a couple coherent threads through that situation. -
@nberlat i also liked that Wakanda felt more like a traditionalist ultra-tech culture than i can previously recall. ppl rarely do that well -
@chaosprime I mean...I just think about work by Nnedi Okorafor or N.K. Jemisin or Octavia Butler...

@nberlat i like the Wakandan habits of thought and speech. it's possible to read it as just hackneyed Kirby pomposity, sure. -
@nberlat but one can also read it as a people with a deep sense of gravitas, who have never lost that through being conquered. -
@chaosprime I'd...need him to do a lot more work to get me to a place where I could read it like that.
