I mean, I don't wanna be a gator about it or nothin', but critics bringing the framework of theater to games does feel like being colonized.
@womzilla That's fair, and I agree. Adaptation is different from stomping all over understanding developed native to the form, though.

@chaosprime Treating games like stories* has been harmful to games for a long time. *Theatre is "story" for purposes of this sentence. -

@womzilla Confusing the concept of a narrative with the concept of a narrative engine doesn't seem like it can be productive. -
@chaosprime I just bristle at people trying to impose a narrative on DOOM. "If it moves, shoot it 'til it dies" is exactly what I wanted. -
@womzilla "I shot a bunch of things until they died and I liked it" is a narrative! It's just not a hoity-toity-ass literary one.
