@mechapoetic *nod* the debate around narrative is highly weird to me. the point of agency as i see it is in producing narrative.

@chaosprime "agency" implies a certain level of decision-making primacy but games don't offer that, they offer dialog within a "system" -
@mechapoetic i imagine that's why i like complex systems that promote emergent behaviors and emergent gameplay. -
@mechapoetic i mean, agency doesn't occur outside of the constraints of the systems forming its context in IRL or anything. -
@chaosprime i'm skeptical "agency" is a thing in IRL systems anyway! i think it's MOSTLY a matter of performativity of social ritual
