And my inclination is that pushback against those who profit ridiculously from it isn't enough, in fact it's distracting and often useless.

@chaosprime There's a difference between a celeb who gains money via fame, and a celeb that gains intellectual / political influence via it. -
@rechelon true. activism celebrity seems to usually be about having a social sphere where you can't be questioned b/c you'll set the hounds. -
@rechelon working around those zones of control is annoying but certainly seems more productive than trying to dismantle them all day. -
@rechelon afaict LP is all media celeb: career based on building an image that is then sold. some influence, no power. so takes more flak.
