Have to remind myself when I describe something well but inaccurately that I am ostensibly writing fiction and should not feel bad.
@mediapathic you can always excuse yourself by laundering your description through the mouth of a character who doesn't give a fuck

@chaosprime good idea. But I'm talking like putting wooden details on a 90s train. In a temporally unstable region. No one will care but me. -
@mediapathic i'm reliably informed that the mark of craftsmanship is neurosis over details nobody else could possibly be arsed to notice -
@chaosprime but you know, there will always be that ONE GUY who is all "well actually on the B-639 model they never..." -
@mediapathic yeah, he's inevitable. shit, i leave notes for that guy in my projects. http://discordianquotes.com/faq , end of third entry, for example -
@chaosprime haha, nice. I actually have to stop myself from writing lengthy "I have figured out the logic behind this" show passages -
@mediapathic yeah, those should be a ve-ry occasional indulgence -
@mediapathic besides it's more fun to drop a couple details here and there that show you did the math if someone's paying enough attention -
@chaosprime yeah, it's a filthy habit I'm aware of and trying to pare down. Won't know how well I'm doing till editors get ahold of it.
