If you're writing a zombie book set in the present or near-future, and you call your creatures something silly other than “zombies,” don’t.
@Tsalmoth hm. not really feeling it. think if Z-Day came, we would find something else to call 'em so as to not feel doomed AND like idiots.

@chaosprime I really don’t. I’ve got the same issue w/ vampire books that try to use different names. Both are too integral to pop culture. -
@Tsalmoth I'd say if you have vampires older than the English language, figuring out what they call themselves is compulsory worldbuilding. -
