Language, perception, and rebranding: do we accomplish anything save obfuscating the issues when we change words for controversial things?
@sethanikeem One situation where I think we do is when we use "rebranding" to distinguish categories that were previously lumped together.

@sethanikeem Oh, hadn't been thinking of that. The attempt to define the pond down to a size where one is a big fish in it is annoying, yes. -
@sethanikeem I suppose I should be more annoyed by it in fringe politics than I am in fringe music, but c'est la guerre. -
@sethanikeem I was thinking of things like the ongoing effort to construct sexual assault as something qualitatively different from sex. -
