Every time someone from the fanfic/fanworks community uses "fandom" to refer exclusively to same, I hate that community a little more.
@jenphalian I don't get how it's okay to use "Potter-fandom" to exclude HP fans who neither produce nor consume HP fanfic/fanworks.

@chaosprime When I'm not talking about fic stuff, HP fandom is fans of HP. I don't think my use of the term is strange. -
@jenphalian Well, your usage is good and reasonable, then. I think in other hands it is not used so carefully. -
@chaosprime I think we've had this entire conversation before. Sorry about poor term usage making you feel excluded. -
@jenphalian Yeah, they must have edited the Matrix. Thank you for your sympathy in this matter. :)

@chaosprime Because it isn't exclusionary! When I'm already talking about fic stuff, referencing HP fandom is drilling down in specificity + -
@jenphalian@chaosprime Had they even once mentioned that this is a subset of a much broader set of fandoms, I'd agree, but no. -
I'm gonna agree w/ Albreda. Fanfic does not = fandom; fanfic is a small subset of fandom.
