notably missing from that list: The Riddle-Master of Hed, Earthsea, Light, The Stainless Steel Rat, Winter's Tale, Children of the Triad...
@wirehead2501 Ha, doesn't it just. And y'know, DADoES is mediocre Dick. The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch was much more impressive.

@chaosprime i'd recommend one of the short story collections for PKD, but i bet Androids got voted up 'cause Blade Runner. -
@wirehead2501 Yeah, there's a perceptible bias toward books people can be referred to the movie adaptation of, methinks. -
@chaosprime or voters tended to be "people who don't read that much but pick up a book they liked the movie of", which, meh. -
@wirehead2501 Yeah. Well, at least we can be reasonably certain that wasn't a huge problem with Dune! -
@chaosprime LOL. i read all of Dune, all the way to Chapterhouse: Dune. a real slog. -
@wirehead2501 Same here. Though I did think Chapterhouse was actually worth sticking with it for. -
@chaosprime it was a long time ago, but i have a hard time with very political-intriguey books, as a rule. same issue with Foundation iirc. -
@wirehead2501 Yeah. Herbert was very hit-or-miss with the trusting-the-reader-to-figure-shit-out thing, but he hit often enough.

@wirehead2501 What else can get kicked is the Drizzt books in favor of the Vlad Taltos series. License crap, meh. (Okay, Thrawn was good.) -
@chaosprime ooh, i haven't read Vlad Taltos but loved Freedom & Necessity. might should look that up. -
@wirehead2501 Strong recommend. And if you find that you heart Vlad (which is quickly clear), then you know that you will also heart Amber.
