There are two ways of coping with tech making some people obsolete: socialism and eugenics. Those are the options. Choose wisely.
@R_Slaugh Maybe? Though just allocating resources to that is socialist. But can everybody learn something useful? Like to think so, but idk.

@R_Slaugh Like, generalized problem-solving will always be useful, but afaict some people are just completely immune to learning to do it. -
@chaosprime there's old farts like me that have relearned their job several times. -
@R_Slaugh Sure, you got moxie. There are people with zero moxie, and zero family, and zero friends. Do we throw them under the bus or no? -
@chaosprime were they born that way or created by the system? -
@R_Slaugh Most likely answer to that is "yes". System likes to push people down any way it can; predisposition is a fine hook for it to use. -
@chaosprime so let's fix the system -
@R_Slaugh Sure. How about by allocating everybody a basic standard of living so nobody has to push anybody else down to feel secure? -
@R_Slaugh Because as long as it's competition all the way down, it'll be like that, with the psychological kneecapping. - 13 more replies
