the problem is less that coders are the kind of idiots who'll say "you don't need a DoClearlyExpressedThing() method when you can just write <big pile of boilerplate> every time", it's that they're such cope monsters they build egos out of how clever <big pile of boilerplate> is

God I hate them. That I am one only makes my hate more pure.

Scala is a whole bundle of crazy with epochal compile times, but I miss having a collections library with powerful descriptive methods. "grouped", "sliding", "takeWhile", being able to treat a String as a collection of characters. Great stuff.

then i get to have a whole new level of hate when all this expressiveness comes at the cost of spewing forth malloc garbage like a comet taking the big plunge directly into a stellar corona

FWIW, I'm a dipshit wageslave Java-dweeb who cannot into collecting my own garbage, and even I was able to learn the basics pretty fast.

Some article said a barrier to Rust adoption was the lack of libraries like CPAN or pear, is that getting any better? Are there any frameworks or do you have to write everything from scratch?

I'm at "learning language constructs" level, so I can't speak to that stuff yet. Sure as hell hope there are frameworks, though, because I'm way too lazy to survive if not.

for package management it doesn't seem like too much to hope that they'll have observed that npm and composer are pretty fucking good and that something like that will have turned up instead of a shitshow like gradle
