the problem is less that coders are the kind of idiots who'll say "you don't need a DoClearlyExpressedThing() method when you can just write <big pile of boilerplate> every time", it's that they're such cope monsters they build egos out of how clever <big pile of boilerplate> is

Scala is a whole bundle of crazy with epochal compile times, but I miss having a collections library with powerful descriptive methods. "grouped", "sliding", "takeWhile", being able to treat a String as a collection of characters. Great stuff.
