okay, i love Westworld, but after showing a lot of willingness to challenge its audience early on, i gotta say i was disappointed that S3's tagline was "free will isn't free" and what we got was a TV-friendly story of free will somehow achieved by heroic resistance, unexplainedly

Still the best show on television dispite being hopelessly bluepilled on the "free" "will" question. (Neither free nor will)
-
Actually consistent with the themes of the show, I'd say that free will is not murdering people who control you, but rather killing yourself in a smug manner that makes things more complicated. Only Hannibal Lecter and Delores have escaped Samsara in this manner.

Glad I didn't jump on the bandwagon when the show immediately blew up in popularity during its first season. I've been through this enough times before. Guess I'll wait and see if the show redeems itself in future seasons.

Free will is the property of having an unpredictable reaction to your environment. In practice you have this because your choices are based on privileged information that only you can access.
-
In principle it's impossible to have. The only way to make decisions without involving the privileged information is to make them random, and then you wouldn't be in control of your own actions.
