fascinating how Westerners made "if you meet the Buddha in the road, kill him" into some shit about authority if you meet the Buddha in the road, he's suffering in samsara out of compassion for you, but will be free when he dies so the act of supreme compassion is to kill him

if you meet the buddha in the road, you have reached the limits of your conception of things the buddha taught, and it is time to move past those conceptions this has nothing to do with authority, and everything to do with blind faith in ones' own conception of that authority
