It is going on. I know not the specific trigger, but it happens. When it does, I just chuckle and move on, unless the importance is obvious. If you chase it, it becomes like trying to watch your eye floaters.

Here’s the thing. Most people believe themselves to be a consciousness arising from firing of billions of neurons. But who thinks about what the experience of conscious wakefulness must feel like *to a neuron in the network*? I think neurons experience synchrony as serendipity.

Gregory Bateson also expressed many great ideas in this space and in this vein. I do like your idea that divination is a tool that selects for when people have run out of ideas/clarity/discernment, and it’s like kicking the pinball machine of broken internal strategic maps.

I think this adjacent to my own take: without making (or discounting) any particular truth claims it seems like divination practices make my life and decision-processes more interesting/productive than not so I’ll continue using them.
