I'm feeling dumb for not having thought things through. Bought a bit of emergency food at end of Feb but truly never even occurred to me that anything could go on longer than, idk, a week? Like the virus would just get bored with no one to play with and disappear into thin air?

It's not that I rejected the possibility that extended lockdown could happen, it just never even occurred to me at all. But I had enough info to think it through had I really wanted to. Maybe?

This "not extending the thought sufficiently in time/detail" error has hit on a few notable occasions in my life (doubt I'm the only one) I might like a name for it.

"bracketing" is pretty good, not least because it highlights that it isn't inherently an error, it's something you have to do in order to perform cognition at all dunno if there's anything to do about it but continue to build better heuristics re what calls for extra attention
