here's an idea: what if animism is real, but such sentience is imparted like a 'life ray' by human perception? whatever you 'chunk' (hofstadter) into a perceptual object suddenly gains consciousness via your awareness of it.https://twitter.com/chaosprime/status/1023438788998119424 …

when you say chunk all I can think about is chunk loading in Minecraft. everything within render distance gains consciousness, but everything outside of it becomes inanimate. (also does that make earth the spawn region?)

This is unironically what happens in real life Its like solipsism except its based off of every individuals observation And this is pretty much scientifically proven by quantum physics

As someone who does in fact do quantum physics, I'll have you to disappoint you there. I get how you could make that assumption, but quantum physics and sentience have nothing at all to do with each other, besides existing within the same universe.

not disagreeing with you but > quantum physics and sentience have nothing at all to do with each other--- so far as we know isn't it contra-science to make claims that can't be falsifiable?https://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1234874188206182400 …

eigenrobot @eigenrobotfun idea suppose that the brain operates via some quantum mechanical mechanism but not as infrastructure but rather primarily as an output thinking really hard about stuff is just causing wave functions to collapse in a particular manner https://twitter.com/litgenstein/status/1234741923039993858 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

quantum physics is a bunch of mathematical formulas that describe the behaviour of particles. Oddly enough I never hear anyone make broad claims about sentience like this while saying that "Newtonian gravity basically proves this"

Because science is for midwits Too dumb to compartmentalize truths beyond numbers and things that are "provable"

Funny how you go from dragging science into it to "science Bad, achuallie" the moment someone challenges your conclusionspic.twitter.com/Ol0Rv2KLUj

Science aint bad, its just not complete

so stop trying to steal valor from it if your assertions stand outside of what it covers, just make them, don't claim support from something that doesn't support you
