Nichiren, a Japanese Buddhist priest of the Kamakura period (1185–1333) said "Zen is the devil". He believed it was utter foolishness to express by means of words that words are not a valid vehicle to convey the truth. He thought it evil to mislead people into aimlessness.

Afaict it's just about learning how to unlearn in the moment as needed. I presume it offloads processing to your subconsciousness in a unique way when learned properly.
