what are your thoughts about "gateware"?

if i'm not going to complain about "firmware" i guess that level seems meaningful too, but the word choice is super annoying, like let's take the word out of FPGA that denotes the least actual distinction from anything else and key on that

Wet does not imply squishiness. It implies a lot of important things happen as chemical reactions in solutions.

that's fine, it just isn't another category at the same level as "software" and "hardware" if it's supposed to be understood as a subclass of hardware, that'd be fine, but that's never represented that i've seen
