once you've decided on the latter, of course, now you have an interesting technical question as to, if you have a legalistic social accounting tradition, how you prevent the losers from establishing claim for the costs imposed on them denying the costs ever happened could work

that would probably take building up an enormous edifice of shaming around even considering the possibility of such costs but that's hardly an excuse not to bust out a li'l elbow grease. 's just words, people will produce an endless stream of those just to hear themselves talk

At first I assumed “catoatrophic costs” was about some heavily endangered group such as disabled people. Because it would be quite absurd to call a cost to a billionaire that “catastrophic.” I am always a day late and a dollar short with Chaos jokes.

The typical solution is to find some way to declare said random people morally undeserving of their wealth. Like this:https://twitter.com/parcha/status/1193156601676468229?s=21 …

it's a great game trying to figure out what people thought i was talking about based on their responses. often way harder than i would have guessed too

That's pretty much the logic behind most government policy making. One size fits all solutions that usually end up benefitting certain groups at the expense of others. It's essentially a flattening of subjectivity.

See under: Dostoyevsky. But if you go that route, you have to then construct an ideological framework in which the marks actively deserved their fates, and that it is more than random.
