Yes and write it anyway? The spec describes an ideal. Engineering proceeds in a cascade of ideals for handling some of reality, and the further facts of reality that preclude their attainment. The process is worth tracking. The ideals are simpler, so we write those down.

tbf, though, maybe we should try writing down the realities too. It would make us less cynical, on the whole, if we kept track of our victories-so-far, and not just how far short of our ideals everything falls.
