whenever i post something touching on social cognition, i reliably get feedback on the "just don't care what people think, lol" tip. friends, i promise you i have pursued that route, if not harder than you could possibly imagine, at least harder than you would

enough to have knowledge bordering on encyclopedic of its unacknowledged costs, its failure modes, and dare i say its shortcomings. as a result, these days i'm exerting myself to reclaim social cognition. as opposed to struggling with it because i don't know of any alternatives
