accidentally let a video start playing that said "what is technical debt? it's a series of bad decisions", which is to say it had fucked up completely by the time i stopped it good, rational decisions for the place and time they're being made create technical debt every second

I find that the correct action to minimize technical debt is usually to write code thinking two modification steps ahead, /but no more/ tho' even this doesn't account for the inevitable "and then it gets pushed off on a maintainer who has a completely different style"
