accidentally let a video start playing that said "what is technical debt? it's a series of bad decisions", which is to say it had fucked up completely by the time i stopped it good, rational decisions for the place and time they're being made create technical debt every second

that's a mite charitable. Most technical debt I've seen was literal mad hatter decision making pattern.

when you get the chance to work with people who aren't huffing mercury you get more of the "we need this fast so we're going to do it the fairly reasonable way that we're going to need to work on more later" pattern
