every interaction i have with the smug mealy-mouthed partisans of the Blue Tribe since my psychological exit from it makes me wonder harder how the fuck i ever tolerated them when i was On The Team no wonder i felt like i was suffocating all the time

Eh, I'm not smug or mealy mouthed. Now if you'd said cringy and intrusive I'd have gotten the vapors.

Also, asking in painful earnestness, can you articulate blue tribe's actual guiding principles as you see them? I got into an argument about similar things (intersectionality) with a guy I respect, but I was too much a true believer, so he bowed out. (cc

challenging project tbh. it's tempting to just deploy the copout that no mass affiliation has any guiding principles but mass affiliation, but i'm not at the point yet of thinking that's true for most practical purposes. kicking it around

i think the core guiding principle of the blue tribe is protective compassion: if something is hurting people, we should stop it. it's hard to disentangle whether pursuing this on a self-defeatingly knee-jerk level is core or just overwhelmingly pervasive
