'Can't stand' would be an exaggeration, but I dislike post-apocalyptic settings because you already lost and there's no way to win. What's the point of even trying?

There's a lot of culture, and there's only so much you can get away with destroying in peacetime. Since the past is already being demolished, what can be done to stop it? Are there peaceful solutions to a downward spiral?

Personally I like to spite progressives by giving up on the past they're so busily destroying, and focus on creating a new culture behind their backs. One that's functionally inspired by the times of old, and culturally fit for the times of today.

Post-apocalyptic fiction is too optimistic for me because it assumes that there will be some of us left.
