whose thumb would you rather live under, A) someone very controlling who enforces compliance by physical violence, or B) someone very controlling who enforces compliance by holding your ability to consider yourself a good person hostage?

Let's be careful not to mistake "being held accountable for your own actions" for B

yes, let's, and let's also not mistake "being held accountable for other people's actions that your actions kind of reminded somebody of or thought your actions could possibly lead to" for "being held accountable for your own actions"

Fair. I voted B because people who self-identity as a "good person" are less likely to do good deeds as they believe they have less karmic debt to repay, and because ego death is far from fatal, rather it's an important step in the journey to enlightenment.

where should the feeling of identifying as a "good person" originate from? who is the arbiter of goodness? quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

The given scenario implies that it comes from another person who has a relationship of power over you and is holding it hostage. In that case, you should shoot the hostage.pic.twitter.com/azQcRiaGXy

Not a bad choice. AWS Key Management Service (KMS) makes it easy for you to create and manage keys and control the use of encryption across a wide range of AWS services and in your applications.
