i started out thinking fairly definitively that scar tissue should be more dense than cardiac tissue but on closer consideration i'm not sure. given that scar tissue reduces the elasticity of the heart i'm inclined to say so but that could simply be a characteric of collagen.

yeah, collagen is less elastic than original tissue in general. there's relative loss of structure that's a lot to do with that, and i guess that probably also tends to indicate higher density on a general principle that you can solve problems with more structure or more mass
