i'm sure people make ego depletion / executive function budget / etc etc into an endless series of excuses and other straw men but nonetheless years before i heard of any of these concepts i was having a conversation with a couple of coworkers who were moving

related, the adaptation response. most well documented in physical training. if you don't work your decision making capacity (or just about anything) often enough and hard enough to produce an adaptation response, it will atrophy to some equilibrium point

doesn't seem to be too many exceptions to this rule as far as I can tell - the body and mind don't like to waste resources maintaining things they don't utilize
