this is both carrot and stick: become an early adopter, get to play God and settle scores; wait around or deny and you're basically volunteering to be culled. really very solid design if you're looking for a durable meme that will kill a lot of people

Why would being a Malthusian make you more likely to get to decide who to kill? I'm thinking of the... Police? Bowie? song now. "We are hungry men, we don't give a damn for what you're saying. We're here to EAT YOU!"
-
when society buys into an ideology strongly enough to start making decisions based on it, early adoption is a rhetorical advantage

The thing about Malthusianism is that it *has* to be true eventually as nothing can grow forever in finite universe. Problem is that no one know when will thing stop growing. It is like Moore's law, great while it lasts but we all know it can't be forever.

love those true assertions that you can't make any predictions based on great for settling scores and playing God

I dunno man, it just follows from good things being finite, and its consistent failure is just due to failure to adequately assess the available good thing reserves. It's like peak oil.
-
so what you're saying is real Malthusianism has never been tried

Unfortunately many people have already forgotten how awful full scale war is for everyone involved

You seem to be confusing Malthusianism (DESCRIPTIVE term) with Social Darwinism or Eugenics (PRESCRIPTIVE terms). This does not help the clarity of your argument and means you're going to misunderstand 90%+ of what you read.
