Well, with dist-upgrade all bets are off. You know, DON’T DO THAT.

The semantics of that command is saying, “go ahead and upgrade this machine to the next distro” The point of LTS releases is to give you a stable system but still get yer critical updates. You must be a physicist or something. ;-)
