egregores running on human compute resources means that the bodies of the worshippers are, collectivelly, literally the body of the god which turns out to be a point that 1 Corinthians hits like twenty-seven times lol

it probably should, in digital computing terms human cognition is so profligately wasteful any decent distributed process would have to get way up there mostly just the god's ego definition, which is to say what its worshippers should and shouldn't do

Hard disagree. Caveat: Solving different problems! Show me a computer that can maintain a model of the world, process enormous amounts of sensory data and reproduce itself, all running under ~150W and ~1000W peak.

First pass: software running on the human collective is how to maintain a society. In this model, religion is (at worst) a legacy mode. God is a representation of the Good, and what “pleases God” == smooth functioning of society.

Ah, the boundary is the group of people. And like any living thing it seeks to expand. Explains evangelism and natalism.

the group of people but also the group of people's behavioral decision planes new technologies and cultural practices generally trigger a flurry of computation as to how the god should regard them shame about that rate of change asymptote

Yeah, it’s quite fascinating to watch the fracturing of the Christian memeplex as it confronts the current rate of change.

Josh Marshall Retweeted Biohackinfo
Josh Marshall added,
Biohackinfo @biohackinfoCurious to know@xianityplus' take on this growing anti-transhumanism trend within Christianity where anything to do with gene-editing is vehemently opposed because apparently gene-editing will lead to the creation of so-called Nephilim "as was in the days of Noah"
