consider a technique such that if one person in the world uses it on a given day, they get $100,000; if two do, they each get $25000; if four, $6250, and so on what behaviors would the incentives of this tend to produce? are these behaviors evident in the historical record?

I will admit that I was just shoehorning in my own thing. the main similarity is "the first person to engage in the behavior" (Lying, when everyone is still Trusting because no one has Lied yet) "gains by far the most from it" do not h@ me (hat me, put a dunce cap on me)

oh no it's a good thought and definitely fits the pattern of a declining utility cascade as the technique becomes more widespread
