We also have a pretty good vocabulary of names and gestures relating to psychic powers. If someone in a film puts their fingers to their temple or wrinkles their brow menacingly while something happens nearby, no explanation is needed to fill in the connection.

My favorite is when it appears to make some sort of sense to explain one made up thing with another equally made up thing. E.g., "most of Superman's powers are really manifestations of telekinesis." (Well, that clears *that* up!)
