the truly lethal feature of ADHD hyperfocus is that it's so pleasurable it tends to teach you to ignore increasingly clamorous alarms from other parts of your brain because paying attention to the alarms would mean exiting hyperfocus

yeah, i've run into people calling it flow much more often but i'm concerned that it may be very different from the phenomena 'flow state' was coined to describe and we may be fucking up our models by calling it that

I shan't be convinced at this juncture that ADHD hyperfocus and flow are *entirely* different in origin (dopamine?), but yeah I also think that lazily conflating them as indistinguishable is foolish for one thing I can be hyperfocused and *quite* aware/distressed about it, lol!
