one reason to occasionally peruse a work of pop scholarship, despite all the pathologies rampant and unchecked in those, is that it lets you pepper your discourse with phrases current in the scholastisphere, which makes you sound erudite and shit sounding erudite and shit is fun

it also helps if you occasionally use a word whose meaning is clear despite having no previous usage this shows that language is your bitch, the way priests of the Ba'al had a rod and scepter to show male and female were their bitch and wore linen and wool in re plant and animal
