i really can't recommend strongly enough the habit of joyfully leaning in when some thought you're exploring would, if true, mean that your present or past self were a monumental idiot. it's so much *more fun* than the ego-defense epistemology we're taught by example in school

one way would be to, like, cruise around and read stuff until you notice yourself wanting to reject something because it would imply you're an idiot, and stopping and going, "what if it were right and i were an idiot, what would that mean"
