has anybody ever met a DBA of more than six months' experience who didn't reflexively push back against doing their job to any degree and whose greatest preference wouldn't obviously have been for a change request to require severing a joint from the finger of your choice

you could do what work did: don't hire a DBA and work like bastards to create a deployment milieu that combines continuing to empower devs to make DB changes while reducing how often they blow up prod
