i say phenomenological because consciousness isn't actually piloting shit, it's just being fed an experiential stream that includes the experience of making the choices that were made by the actual pilot, but it feels the same so whatevs
This is pretty close to epiphenomenalism. My understanding is that consciousness has a kind of veto power in certain situations? Or at least that the rational narrative part of your mind does?
yeah, i'm not 100% sure consciousness as such is anything but a passive observer but the latter for sure, the forelobes definitely have an executive override and typically abuse it in an imperialistic fashion arbitrarily and capriciously
just handwave free will with a vague conception of "metaphysics" much like how I personally justify physical anomalies with "well, probably quantum something or other"
