would you agree or disagree that, given society as it is, the degree to which people can be safely immiserated in order to extract value from them is the degree to which they will be immiserated?

if a competition market economic milieu hasn't yet driven out that inefficiency, then there's money on the table waiting to be taken. so maybe maximizing how safe everybody is to immiserate has unanticipated consequences

Has it been considered that there is *no* level of immiseration that one can *safely* be subjected to and that this is the entire issue. People will give their life to prevent a lower quality of life than they are used to for themselves or their family. All armement of every one

i mean, it looks a lot like the safe level of immiseration is pretty high and climbing boiled-frog style mind you we're not talking about safety for anyone but those in a position to make choices about what the system does

The middle part is usually not true of countries with a middle class. Otherwise there wouldn't be a middle class. Misery != profit.

Instead they work on squeezing value out of you while keeping you happy and productive, which is insidious and won't be stopped by guns.

I think that you are spot on in your analysis. Even if this *isn't* deliberate efficiency seeking, it's going to work out that way. I'd never give up the right to gun ownership. I may make concessions about semi-automatic rifles with clip sizes above 5.
