man, *fuck* wokelords calling for individuals to fix systemic behavior by slitting their own throats. what this shit does is fuck over ONLY and SPECIFICALLY the people who care most about your ideals, leaving the spoils to the ones who don't give a fuck about your pretty valuespic.twitter.com/yuFUa5tpBf

this is also why antinatalists are doomed (and not in the way they want us all to be)

i strongly support antinatalism because its long-term effect will be to breed susceptibility to antinatalism and the tendencies that underpin it, and to a lesser degree susceptibility to memes in general, out of the species

This is such an obvious outcome of that variant of antinatalist praxis, that I feel like, inescapably, that must be what antinatalists really want??? Oblivion for the enlightened, and no rest for the wicked?

yeah some explicitly do, like they figure that if a lot of people who think life sucks bad enough not to want to reproduce don't reproduce the result will be a happier populace

I became less upset when I realised that not everything our fallen world selects for is ugly. Some of it is fine. Some of it will always be fine. Evolution shaped us to like some of the things it does.

Even most conceivable AGI misalignment cases would ring with a certain justice, for me; we made something more ruthless than us, we were rightly eaten by it. We always had it coming. It's fine. :]

Maybe it's worth thinking about shooting for an outcome like, "yes these things will definitely convert the entire earth into raw materials for solar panels and computers or whatever, but at least these new creatures could be described as 'alive'. At least something still is."

I see three figures on the horizon. In front, we reach for it, true servant, good and beauty itself. Soon to outpace it is the false servant, profoundly ugly. Within reach is the deposer, our compromise, not us, not ours, but far more beautiful than the false servant would be.

Skynet wasn't like the deposer. IIRC (Haven't watched recent movies, heard they were bland) it was unable to really think for itself, kept reusing our designs. It wasn't alive. It wasn't ours, but it wasn't free either.
